Remembering long-time board member Izzy Allen

Fondly remembering my Aunt Izzy Allen, who passed away last Saturday at 95 years old (almost 96). Besides being a close aunt, she was part of the board of Philippine-Asian Missions, Inc. (PAMI) since its first year back in 1983, was the secretary for many years, and attended board meetings up until just a couple years ago. Some of these pictures are from the PAMI board Christmas parties at her house or our house. Aunt Izzy and Aunt Ardelle were usually the instigators of fun games at these Christmas parties. Coincidentally, Aunt Izzy passed away at the same age and about the same time of year as Aunt Ardelle, who was a year older and passed away last year. They were always close friends, since being little girls, and are now together again, along with their husbands and other loved ones, and with their Lord Jesus.
This is what my cousin Nancy Haase (Aunt Ardelle’s daughter) posted on Oct. 22: These two young beauties are my mom, Ardelle Thorud, and my aunt, Isabel Allen. They were best friends from when they were little, and when they grew up they became sisters-in-law when my mom married Izzy’s brother. Life-long friends. A year ago today we laid my mom to rest; this coming Monday we will lay Aunt Izzy to rest. Both are now reunited with each other and their husbands, as they worship the Lord in His awesome presence. Meanwhile, they are much missed here on earth.

My Aunt Izzy Allen has joined the “great cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) of faithful Christians that have passed on, joining several other former PAMI board members and PAMI workers that went before her. Several of these witnesses are in this set of video interviews made in 2012 in commemoration of PAMI’s 30th anniversary. Aunt Izzy speaks about 2/3 the way into this video.

Here is the obituary of my Aunt Izzy Allen who passed away a week ago. We’ll be remembering and celebrating her life this Sunday Oct. 27 and Monday Oct. 28 in Bloomington, MN:
